Vikings for a Moment: Our Team Goes Axe Throwing

31.03.2026

We threw axes like Vikings out hunting – or at least something close to it. For a moment, everything felt a bit archaic: wood, metal, a target. This new team-event trend briefly pulled us out of our digital routine: no code, no emails, just an axe in hand and the question of whether it would stick cleanly this time.

The Axe Master at the Woodcutters explains the basics. Technique beats strength. Keep your wrist steady. Keep your eyes on the axe. And don’t look away in case it bounces back – which does happen sometimes and adds a quick spike of adrenaline.

In principle, it’s played a bit like bowling or darts: you aim at a wooden target, collect points, cheer each other on. Just with noticeably more adrenaline in the air.

What we learned: timing, focus, and a feel for the right moment to release the throw. And a bit of team dynamics, too. In the end, it was clear anyway – we won this as a team. All of us together, somehow.
